Risk Analysis for Liver Surgery
نویسندگان
چکیده
Surgical procedures for the resection of pathologic lesions are often risky interventions. The risk concerns postoperative complications as well as the success of the operation in terms of its long-term effect. Postoperative complications may result if too much tissue is removed. The long-term effect depends on whether all lesions are detected and are removed entirely together with a saftey margin. Risk analysis is an important aspect in preoperative surgery planning. Currently, preoperative planning considers the general state of the patient as well as special images resulting e.g. from computer tomography (CT). The currently prevailing techniques for preoperative planning are highly subjective and error-prone as no reliable methods exist to evaluate the extent of anatomic and pathologic structures and to quantitatively analyze these structures.

Evaluation of Factors Influencing Liver Function Test in On-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery
Background: Liver dysfunction during on-pump coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG) is a rare complication but is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. The ability to identify high-risk patients may be helpful in planning appropriate management strategies. We aimed to evaluate the factors influencing liver function tests during on-pump CABG.Methods: In 146 patients scheduled...

Background: Diabetic retinopathy is a common chronic complication of diabetes and one of the leading causes of acquired blindness in the world. There is growing evidence that traditional risk factors do not fully justify the onset and progression of diabetic retinopathy. Therefore, some other risk factors such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease may be involved in the pathophysiology of diabe...

متن کاملThe risk factors related to liver injury in non-Intensive Care Unit (non-ICU) admitted patients infected with COVID-19
Background: Liver is one of the target organs for COVID-19 infection. The liver damage in critically ill patients was investigated in previous studies, but there is no available data about liver injury in mild to moderate form of infection with COVID019. In this study, we estimated the prognostic factors related to liver injury in NON-ICU admitted patients infected with COVID-19. Methods: in t...
متن کاملRisk prediction and outcomes in patients with liver cirrhosis undergoing open-heart surgery.
OBJECTIVE There are few data assessing factors, which identify patients with liver cirrhosis (LC) facing high risk for open-heart surgery. We sought to compare the Model for End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) score, the Child-Turcotte-Pugh (CTP) classification and the European system for cardiac operative risk evaluation (EuroSCORE) for risk prediction in cirrhotic patients. METHODS Fifty-seven c...
